Lee Kern is a licensed clinical social worker who provides individual psychotherapy, offers aftercare support, and teaches psychoeducational classes on a variety of topics, including lifestyle change, stress management, self-monitoring, relapse prevention and recovery, and sustaining change. In addition to working with weight and eating issues, his professional interests include psychodynamic therapy, stress management, lifestyle change, relapse prevention, motivation, life goals, shame, self-defeat, and addiction. He offers specialty sessions addressing structured life goals and smoking cessation. He utilizes a blend of cognitive, dynamic and behavioral techniques.

Lee earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of North Carolina and in his capacity of supervising social work interns, was an Adjunct Instructor for the UNC-CH School of Social Work. He was a regular contributing author to WLS (Weight Loss Success) Lifestyles magazine, and in 2011 his articles were published in a collection called Losing Lessons. He has conducted studies, presented at national conferences, and authored publications on successful weight management. Lee has been with Structure House since 1982 and served as Clinical Director from 1982 until transitioning to staff therapist in 2015.
