Look forward to a healthier lifestyle and a promising future with help from Structure House. Our customized nutrition services help our guests embrace their strengths, heal their bodies, and create lasting, positive change.
At Structure House, we utilize an evidence-based, non-diet approach to healthy eating which is a critical component to each client’s long-term healthy weight loss success. All participants in our program meet with a registered dietitian who will recommend a daily nutrition plan and address any specific dietary concerns. Structure House nutrition plans are developed on an individualized basis, taking into consideration both the physical and psychological dynamics that transpire around food. Instead of counting calories, our program teaches participants to build well-balanced plates that are inspired by solid nutrition principles and also the pure enjoyment of food. Our program dietitians also teach participants how to make balanced food choices in restaurants, at the grocery store, and at home.
Throughout our core 4-week program, participants will be offered a number of therapeutic eating experiences. These experiences offer unique opportunities to confront problematic situations and develop skills for managing emotions and adaptive behaviors. In addition to participating in a wide range of nutrition classes, participants also receive expert counseling on their individual nutrition needs. Nutrition class and counseling topics may include:
- Normalizing eating patterns
- Healthy weight management
- Meal preparation and planning
- Mindful eating
- Vitamin and supplement use
- Healthy eating in restaurants
- Use of electronic resources to plan and monitor eating
- Managing your food environment
- Nutrition myths and fad diets
At Structure House, meals are developed through a strong collaboration between the nutrition and culinary teams. All three daily meals (and optional snacks) are served in our on-site dining facility, where healthy behaviors such as portion management using the My Plate Model, mindful eating, nutritional awareness, and appetite awareness monitoring are practiced. As part of the core program, Structure House also provides menu planning for the home and weekly cooking demonstrations. Through the implementation of these services, we teach our participants how to shop for and prepare balanced meals at home and make well-informed decisions when dining out.
Nutritional Therapy
Balanced nutrition is extremely important for a person’s overall physical, mental and emotional health. Practicing good nutrition habits allows a person to get the proper balance of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients needed to function at his or her best. Furthermore, healthy eating is an important part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent the development of serious medical health conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, Type 2 Diabetes, and some types of cancers. When paired with an effective exercise regimen, health-supportive eating greatly increases the likelihood that an individual will achieve and maintain a healthy weight.
Having knowledge about nutrition and being able to make smart food choices can go a long way in helping a person achieve optimal health and to better manage the physiological health problems that may be associated with obesity, feelings of food addiction, and medical conditions.
